About our cause

We are the local volunteer-run branch of the national charity – Cats Protection.

Cats Protection is the UK’s leading feline welfare charity. In 2014 it helped over 205,000 cats and kittens through its national network of over 250 volunteer-run branches and 31 adoption centres.

The charity’s vision is a world where every cat is treated with kindness and an understanding of its needs.

The charity’s three key aims are:

1. To help stray and unwanted cats and kittens, rehabilitating and rehoming them where possible.
2. To encourage the neutering of all cats and kittens.
3. To inform the public about the care of cats and kittens.

The areas we work in (HP5, HP16-23, HP27, OX9 & OX39) and the people and cats we deal with are all diverse but the one thing they have in common is that they need our help. Without the Branch's cat work, there would be many more unhappy and uncared for cats and many more stressed owners.

We are a group of around 40 volunteers that rescue and rehome cats and kittens in our area that need our help for a variety of reasons. Cats may be left behind when people move house or an owner dies or moves into accommodation that does not allow pets. Often cats are found wandering or injured.

Our team of fosterers care for cats and kittens waiting to be rehomed in purpose built pens in their gardens. All our foster cats are neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, deflead and dewormed and will have received any additional medical treatment required before they are rehomed. All potential adopters are home checked.

We help with feral colonies and our dedicated team of volunteers do their best to trap, neuter and relocate these cats to farms and stables.

The Branch assists people on low incomes or benefits to neuter their cats by providing full and part cost neutering vouchers for them to use with a local vet.

Our volunteers have a wealth of knowledge on all cat related matters gained from their own experience, voluntary work and attending courses. We are able to advise people on a variety of welfare and behavioural issues.

Chiltern Cats Protection provides a very valuable service for the Vale Community.

We need your help so we can continue to offer and even expand our service.

Thank you for your support and good luck!

Yours Sincerely,

Mrs Evelyn Daley
